JOHN CURRAN

John Curran has over 20 years of professional experience in the music industry as a drummer, composer, and performer. During this time, he has shared the stage with renowned artists from the rock and metal scene, including Blaze Bayley (Iron Maiden), Dave Evans (AC/DC), and Phil Campbell (Motörhead).
John has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, taking part in concert tours and major music events. Among the notable festivals where he has performed is Bloodstock Open Air, one of Europe’s leading festivals dedicated to heavy music.
In addition to his live performance career, John has extensive studio experience. He has recorded at renowned studios including Parr Street Studios and Graceland Studios, working on musical projects as a drummer and composer. His performance experience spans a range of contemporary genres, including Rock, Metal, Funk, and Pop, allowing him to work confidently across different styles and with a variety of musical ensembles.

Composer and Sound Designer:
John’s music has been featured on the BBC, NBC, Sky Sports, Discovery Channel, and PBS, as well as in campaigns for brands like Nike, Kellogg's, and Babbel.
TEACHING:
John has taught more than 250 students, helping them succeed in the Rock School and Trinity College London programs. All of his students have passed their exams from Grades 1 to 8.
John adapts his lessons to fit each student’s needs and goals, whether they are starting out or looking to improve advanced techniques. John brings real-world performance experience to his teaching and creates a supportive environment that helps students grow musically and creatively.
EDUCATION:
University of Salford - First-Class Honors degree in Composition and Performance. He studied with drum educator Dave Hassel.
EXPERIENCE:
Drummer and Musical Director at the Forum Theatre in London, England.
John led productions and worked closely with performers throughout his time at the Forum Theatre. This experience shapes his teaching, focusing on collaboration and practical skills.
